Shaykh Ibrāhīm Niasse (d. 1975) read the whole Qurʾān aloud at Medina Baye over fifty-six sessions between ẓuhr and ʿaṣr in Ramaḍān 1383/1964, and his students wrote those sessions down as Fī Riyāḍ al-Tafsīr. The āya above is Warsh ʿan Nāfiʿ, the rasm of the printed edition. إِجَدَّذًا ) قطَّعهم حتى تركهم فتاتا (إِلَ كَبِيرا لَهُمْ) علق الفأس في عنقه ( تَعَلَّهُمْةَ إِلَيْهِ توجِعُونَ) لعلهم إذا أنوا يرجعون إليه. كان آزر يصنع الآلهة ويعطيها لإبراهيم وهو صبي يذهب بِها إلى السوق يبيعها، يقول إبراهيم: من يشتري شيئا لا ينفع ولا يضر؟1 من أراد أن يشتري شيعا لا ينفعه ولا يضره فليشتر، فلا يشتري أحد، فيرجع يقول أبوه أنت لم تبع شيئا. فخاطبهم قال لهم: هؤلاء الآلهة التي تعبدون لا تضر ولا تنفع مالكم؟ قالوا له هكذا وجدنا آباءنا. قال لهم أنا أعادي هذه الآلهة عداوة شديدة، "فإنّهم عدو لي إلارب العالمين" أنا لا أحبكم أن تعبدون إلا رب العالمين لا هذه الآلهة. فقالوا نحن هكذا نفعل وكان عندهم يوم عيد فوعدهم أنَّهم إذا خرجوا ليوم العيد سوف يدمر آلهتهم، طبخوا كثيرا من الأطعمة وأتوا بِها ووضعوها حول الآلهة لتبارك لهم الآلهة طعامهم. فأتى إبراهيم فقال: ما لكم لا
