Shaykh Ibrāhīm Niasse (d. 1975) read the whole Qurʾān aloud at Medina Baye over fifty-six sessions between ẓuhr and ʿaṣr in Ramaḍān 1383/1964, and his students wrote those sessions down as Fī Riyāḍ al-Tafsīr. The āya above is Warsh ʿan Nāfiʿ, the rasm of the printed edition. The root behind each underlined word comes from a Ḥafṣ ʿan ʿĀṣim corpus, realigned to this Warsh text word by word; 125 of the 6,236 āyāt differ in word count between the two riwāyāt, and those were aligned rather than assumed. A word carries no underline where the corpus supplies no root. Lexicon entries are a reading aid and carry no page reference; the edition does not cite them. (بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَ الرَّحِيمِ يَأَيُّهَا ألْمَزَّمِّلُ فُمْ) سبب نزول هذه السورة أن الرسول صلى اله عليه وسلم لما تزوج بخديجة بنت خويلد وكانت غنية والرسول صلى اللّٰه عليه وسلم لا يملك شيئا من المال أهدت خديجة بجميع أموالها للرسول صلى اللّٰه عليه وسلم، فأذن لها الرسول صلى اللّٰه عليه وسلم في التصرف في المال كما كانت تتصرف. ويأخذ الرسول صلى اللّه عليه وسلم زادا ويذهب إلى الغار غار حراء فوق جبل الثور جبل شاهق، يطلع عليه المصطفى وفي رأسه غار يدخل فيه يخلو وحده هنالك لعبادة الله، ما كان يعرف كيفية العبادة ولكن عبادته في تلك المدة الخلوة فقط يعتزل عن الناس يصفو قلبه مع اللّٰه تبارك وتعالى حتى جاءه الوحي: جاءه الملك وهو في الغار فتعرض له وقال له: اقرأ. قال: ما أنا بقارئ. يقصد أنه لا يقرأ لا يعلم القراءة ولا الكتابة فغطه جبريل حتى بلغ منه الجهد فأطلقه وقال له: اقرأ. قال: ما أنا بقارئ، فغطه حتى بلغ منه الجهد فأرسله وقال له: اقرأ. قال: ما أنا بقارئ، فغطه حتى بلغ منه الجهد فأرسله وقال له: …
