Shaykh Ibrāhīm Niasse (d. 1975) read the whole Qurʾān aloud at Medina Baye over fifty-six sessions between ẓuhr and ʿaṣr in Ramaḍān 1383/1964, and his students wrote those sessions down as Fī Riyāḍ al-Tafsīr. The āya above is Warsh ʿan Nāfiʿ, the rasm of the printed edition. The root behind each underlined word comes from a Ḥafṣ ʿan ʿĀṣim corpus, realigned to this Warsh text word by word; 125 of the 6,236 āyāt differ in word count between the two riwāyāt, and those were aligned rather than assumed. في الدرجة الثالثة (وَعَلَي اَ۬لثَّلَٰثَةِ اِ۬لذِينَ خُلِّفُواْۖ) تاب اللّٰه على النبي والمهاجرين والأنصار وعلى الثلاثة: كعب بن مالك وهلال بن أمية ومرارة بن الربيع وكلهم من الأنصار وحَتَّىّ إِذَا ضَافَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ الأَرْضُ بِمَا رَحْبَتْ مع رحبها أي سعتها فلا يجدون مكانا يطمئنون إليه (وَضَافَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَ أَنْجُسُهُمْ) قلوبهم للغم والوحشة بتأخير توبتهم فلا يسعها سرور ولا أنس (وَظَنُّوا) أيقنوا (أَن لَّا مَلْجَأَ مِنَ اَ۬للَّهِ إِلَّآ إِلَيْهِ) هذا طريق النجاة (ثُمَّ تَابَ عَلَيْهِمْ لِيَتُوبُواْ إِنَّ اللَّةَ هُوَ التَّوَّابُ ألرَّحِيمٌ) تاب اللّه عليهم ليتوبوا إن اللّه هو التواب الرحيم. نزلت هذه في الليل والرسول صلى اللّٰه عليه وسلم في بيت زوجته أم سلمة فقال قد قبلت توبة الثلاثة، قالت ألا أرسل إليهم ليستبشروا؟ قال الرسول صلى اللّٰه عليه وسلم: إذا يمنعون الناس من نومهم، فلا ينام أحد حتى الصباح، فلما صلى الصبح التفت وقال: لقد قبل اللّٰه توبة الثلاثة، كلهم قام رجل إليه ليبشره، قال …
